Frequently Asked Questions
What is EZWorth? 🔗
EZWorth is a stateless, zero-trust net worth spreadsheet maker for users who prefer to maintain their financial records locally, privately, and in Excel rather than on a third-party SaaS database.
On-demand, EZWorth fetches your balance information from institutional accounts linked to SimpleFIN, merges them with your manually specified assets (such as real estate or vehicles), and compiles a password-protected XLSX spreadsheet.
Why do I need a SimpleFIN Bridge account? 🔗
EZWorth does not directly connect to your financial institutions nor request or store your credentials. Instead, it uses a secure, read-only API from a highly reputable account aggregator, SimpleFIN Bridge.
SimpleFIN charges very reasonable fees, paid directly to them. You connect your accounts on their platform, generate a setup token, and use that token here to link your financial institutions to your spreadsheet. EZWorth retrieves balances via the SimpleFIN Bridge API and nothing else.
Is my spreadsheet password safe? 🔗
Yes. While we enforce password encryption of Excel spreadsheets to enhance your security, we do not store passwords in any database.
When you upload your encrypted spreadsheet to refresh balances, your password is sent securely via HTTPS, is used to briefly decrypt your spreadsheet so that EZWorth can add the fetched updated balances, and then used to re-encrypt your spreadsheet. Your spreadsheet password never touches EZWorth disk storage and we cannot assist if you forget it.
It is also important to use strong passwords. To address both strong passwords and not forgetting them, we advise that you use a password manager. This Password Manager Primer is a good place to start.
How does "Day Pass" pricing work? 🔗
Most software services have monthly subscription fees. EZWorth uses a pay-per-use, day credit model.
When you log in and initiate an update, one "Day Pass" credit is consumed and activates a 24-hour access window. During that 24-hour window, you can run as many refreshes, adjustments, or spreadsheet downloads as you want without consuming additional credits. You will not be charged multiple times when setting up or changing things like account categories, classes, colors, etc.
Please note that SimpleFIN Bridge imposes daily API hit limits that we cannot bypass.
What makes EZWorth "stateless"? 🔗
Standard financial apps use a relational database containing your institutions, account balances, history, and net worth records. EZWorth does not.
All of your balances, transaction categories, and your SimpleFIN access tokens are stored directly inside your encrypted Excel spreadsheet. We only store your email address and your Day Pass credit balance.
Who owns and operates EZWorth? 🔗
Technically, EZWorth is property of Adivvyo, Inc.
Practically speaking, as Adivvyo's sole proprietor, Lester Hightower owns and operates EZWorth.
Do you offer warranties or refunds? 🔗
We do not offer any warranties or refunds.
EZWorth is a low-cost service operated by a single person. The time, energy, and costs of processing warranty claims or refund requests would make EZWorth impossible to operate.
Users can start by purchasing the very low-cost, smallest day-plan bundle to ensure that EZWorth suits their needs and very little is lost if it does not. By design, users are always in control of all of their data and would lose nothing if the service stopped performing.
